Neutral Theory - The Old Man

Now I don’t happen to know anything about Neutral Theory, other than it seems to be a side project of someone’s. Who that someone is, I couldn’t tell you. I only came across the song through thesixtyone, and haven’t come across it elsewhere. I do know this though: it is a really great song. Beautiful and moving, it’ll pick you up if you’re feeling at all down. I guarantee it.

Metric - Help, I’m Alive (Acoustic)

William Fitzsimmons - I Don’t Feel It Anymore (Song of the Sparrow)

Off of his 2008 album The Sparrow And The Crow, this song by William Fitzsimmons is a beautiful acoustic ballad that takes away all your thoughts and worries, and leaves you to bask in the music itself. It’s songs like this that hit you where it counts, in the heart. And they also make you want to unearth your acoustic guitar and play along… but that might just be me.

Johnette Napolitano & Danny Lohner - The Scientist

So moving on from J.D. to a song by J & D. Originally from Coldplay’s 2002 album A Rush of Blood to the Head, this cover is off of the soundtrack to the movie Wicker Park. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it is possibly heartbreaking. It’s a perfect rainy day, stare out your window, and think about the world song. Beautiful.

Minus the Bear - Knights (acoustic)

This is an acoustic version of Minus the Bear’s song “Knights” which was originally from their 2007 album Planet of Ice. This version, however, is from their 2008 EP Acoustics where they did acoustic versions of 6 of their previous songs and one brand new one. I found this song the most unlikely to be done as an acoustic, since the original is practically all done with a pedal (you can hear the original on their Myspace page, I suggest you check it out). I guess this proves that plugged in or not, Minus the Bear is awesomeness to the extreme!

Fink - Pretty Little Thing

Fink is a singer-songwriter/producer/DJ from England. This song is from his 2006 album Biscuits For Breakfast. He has produced artists such as Amy Winehouse, and DJ’s under the name Sideshow.

It’s not often that an acoustic act has a rhythm or a beat as cool as this. I hope you enjoy and I look forward to posting many more songs on this page.
